Service redesign - Eight steps to better patient safety

One in 10 patients experience some sort of safety incident when they go into hospital. Gill Hastings shares tips from four acute hospital sites that are testing ways to make patients safer.

Making hospitals safer for patients may be a large and inherently complex task, but it isn’t impossible. Through its £4m, four-year safer patients initiative, the Health Foundation is working closely with four acute services and experts from the US Institute of Healthcare Improvement to find out what works on the ground to improve patient safety.
